Associate Director, Business Development and Alliance Management – LocanaBio


At Locanabio, we are creating a new class of genetic medicines to treat a range of human genetic diseases by delivering RNA binding proteins and effector domains that can precisely manipulate disease causing RNA by several mechanisms. We deliver our RNA manipulation systems by gene therapy which provides a durable effect with one time treatment and without DNA modification. The broad range of RNA manipulations that are possible with our approach provides a unique platform to address many diseases beyond which is possible with current therapies. The wide range of potential indications is supported by the modularity of our RNA-targeting gene therapies which provide exquisite control of specificity and activity. We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join our business development team.

This position plays an important role on the Business Development team. The role is responsible for coordinating licensing, partnership and diligence efforts consistent with the Company’s strategy and for developing effective decision-making tools and information for the team and Company. The Associate Director will lead alliance management activities with collaborators/partners and corporate contract management. The position will report to the Chief Business Officer. You would have the opportunity to make significant contributions in our dynamic start-up environment where self-driven, enthusiastic employees thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the overall partnering and licensing objectives and strategies for the Company
  • Leads business development analysis and competitive intelligence
  • Develops and manages key tools and models to assist the Company with decision making
  • Identifies opportunities for intellectual property and assets that could complement our existing portfolio
  • Manages alliance management activities for external collaborations
  • Leads corporate contract management and assist with negotiations liaising with legal
  • Ensures effective external communication of the strategy and represents the Company in external partnering, scientific conferences and investor meetings
  • Builds and leverages a network of connections in academia and industry to raise awareness of the Company’s partnering objectives and capabilities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or life sciences; Advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in R&D, business development, corporate development, M&A, licensing, strategic planning or investment banking focused on biotech or pharmaceuticals
  • A critical thinker with ability to find the right balance of speed and execution
  • Previous experience in alliance management preferred
  • Strong ability to effectively present ideas and concepts clearly both verbally and in writing with key stakeholders including executive-level management
  • Willingness to travel (expectation <20%).
